Tree planting is a great way of bringing communities together. It gives community members the opportunity to play a key role in improving their local environment for their own benefit and for the benefit of others, including future generations. Community-based tree planting schemes often empower communities and lead to other projects that help to enhance other aspects of their locality. In doing this, tree-planting schemes play a vital role in community development.
All community-orientated Treegeneration schemes have involved the input of local community members. In planning these schemes, most have been subject to community consultations to ensure that the schemes reflect the aspirations of the local community. Involvement in these schemes has ranged from local residents, schools, businesses, community councils, county councilllors, Welsh Assembly Members and Members of Parliament.
