Treegeneration offers funding for urban tree planting schemes that help to enhance the environmental, social and / or economic wellbeing of urban areas.
If you are involved in an urban tree-planting project, Treegeneration may be able to offer you funding towards the total costs of your project. A Treegeneration grant could contribute to the planning, implementation and initial establishment costs of your tree-planting scheme. If you’re project is in an urban area and it has the potential to deliver social, economic and/or environmental benefits then it may qualify for a grant.
The level of funding offered will depend on the type of project you have in mind. If you represent a school or a community group, your project may qualify for up to 75% funding of the total costs of the project. If you are a local authority or business then the maximum level of funding you could receive will be between 25-50% towards the total costs of a project.
To get a better idea of whether your project qualifies for Treegeneration funding, please contact us. Once you have discussed your project with the project officer, more information may be requested, which may involve a site meeting to discuss the project in more detail. As part of the planning process, you will need to show that you have permission from the landowner to carry out tree planting and that any tree-planting will not interfere with the current or future use of the site or compromise its recreational, biodiversity or archaeological value. You will also need to show that provisions have or will be made for the long-term maintenance of the trees beyond the establishment period.
Important: Treegeneration is currently in a pilot phase, which means regrettably we are unable to provide funding for every scheme brought forward. During the pilot phase, priority will be given to those projects that can demonstrate the greatest potential public benefits and best value for money.
